He stressed the necessity of propagating Islam throughout the world. “The better we train preachers in this context, the religion of God [Islam] will also reach the people more thoroughly,” Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani said.
He said that there are various ways of expressing opinions and religious orders to people around the world and that propagation is best way to attract people to the religion of Islam.
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani mentioned a tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding the necessity of promoting religion which states that: “there is no need for war or compulsion in order to bring humankind to Islam, and propagation is sharper and more successful than the sword.”
The Prophet (S) said that explanations of religious precepts must involve logic and clear answers. In order to propagate Islam internationally, preachers are required whom are [spiritually] complete and have the aptitude to perform their duties effectively. These types of preachers can help the cause of Islam and through them, Islam can flourish.
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani noted a prophetic tradition which emphasizes the importance of ethical behaviour of preachers towards those whom they are conveying the divine message of Islam to. “The person who is acts well towards humankind is a gentleman.”
“Our preachers must be courteous and polite in their actions and behaviour and only these types of people can successfully propagate Islam,” Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated.
