Rasa - Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm newspaper, underlined that the US Democrats' victory in the recent elections and rejection of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Paris were strong responses to Washington and Tel Aviv's bullying.

RNA - "No doubt this week was a start for ending the US and Israel's bullying and the Republican party's defeat in the US House elections struck a heavy blow at Trump," Atwan wrote on Saturday.

He also referred to Putin's rejection of Netanyahu's demand for a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of a conference in Paris to mark 100 years to the end of World War I, saying that it was a strong blow to the Israeli prime minister who is attempting to resolve differences with Moscow on Syria.

Atwan reminded that Trump's insulting behavior towards the CNN reporter in a press conference following the congress midterm elections, saying that he showed his anger for losing the vote.

Democrats won the US House of Representatives in Tuesday’s 2018 midterm elections, but lost seats in the US Senate and failed to win several marquee races that would have represented a full rebuke of President Donald Trump.

After two years of Republican control in Congress, the Democrats gained 27 seats in the House, guaranteeing a majority of at least two seats. Winners were undetermined in 23 House races, with Democrats likely to claim nine of those seats.

Democrats hopes of winning the Senate and achieving an overwhelming “Blue Wave” — already slim because of a favorable election map for Republicans — were extinguished as results rolled in Tuesday. Losses in at least three key Senate races, including Beto O’Rourke in Texas, meant Republicans would have control of the Senate with an even bigger majority.

Trump, who campaigned hard to make the election about him, claimed victory, despite losing the House.
