RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council met today in Tehran.
Speaking during the meeting, Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Movahedi-Kermani, the chairman of the council, offered his condolences on the upcoming solemn days of Tasu’a and Ashura, which mark the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Husayn, and expressed the need for Islamic societies and all the freedom-loving people of the world to contemplate upon the uprising of Imam al-Husayn and said, “The deep understanding of this truth in the system of existence has a great value and for this, we must pass on our lives, wealth, children and all material privileges. It’s one of the important goals of commemorating the events of Karbala and is a great value of divine worship and a commitment to religion and divine duties.”
The provisional Friday prayer leader of Tehran added, “The profound understanding and true knowledge of the audience of the message of the ‘Chief and Leader of the Martyrs’ [Imam al-Husayn] about his uprising will lead to the giving of one’s life and wealth on the battle between truth and falsehood at any time and place. If this success was provided to anyone, we will attain the ‘praiseworthy status’ which we ask God Almighty for in Ziyarat Ashura.”
According to Rasa News Agency, following the meeting on Note 1 of Article 5 of the “Bill on the Protection and Utilization of the Genetic Resources of the Country,” there was a disagreement between the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Guardian Council, which, after discussing and examining agreeing and opposing opinions, the members of the Expediency Discernment Council accepted the opinion of the Islamic Consultative Assembly as beneficial and it was approved with more than two-thirds of the vote for ten years.
According to this note, genetic resources with new specifications, based on the processes of eugenics and genetic manipulation, are subject to the provisions of this law and other intellectual property laws and through trusted institutions, the subject of Article 3 of this law can be registered and this registration is intellectual property.
The Expediency Discernment Council of the System is an administrative assembly appointed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and was created upon the revision to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 6, 1988. It seeks to resolve differences or conflicts between the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Guardian Council.
