RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Yusuf al-Nasiri, the chairman of the Scholars’ Council of Iraq, referred to the recent events in Iraq’s southern city of Basrah, stating, “The demands of the people of Basrah, such as healthy drinking water, the repair of electricity services and the improvement of urban services are the right of the people and are correct.”
The deputy director of the Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba added, “Popular protests accompanied by aggression and the destruction of public property have led to a deviation of the demonstrations such that the chants that were shouted over the past few days weren’t in line with the demands of the people, especially the genuine people of Basrah, who are warriors, believers and have a very strong role in the fight against the disbanded Ba’athist Party, the occupation of the United Kingdom, the United States and the Daesh terrorist phenomenon.”
He pointed to the role of Western and Arab countries in the deviation the peaceful and rightful demonstrations of the people, saying, “Today, we see the deviation of the protests from the main and central axis and the agents of the infiltration of the United States, the occupying Zionist regime, the Wahhabis and the United Arab Emirates have been flaring up the events over the past few days.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Nasiri added, “The arrogant countries, by paying large sums of money to some of their agents, mobilize the youth to achieve their goals, and on the other hand, some members of the Ba’athist Party from different regions, such as al-Anbar Governorate, use the Zionist regime to implement their plots.”
The Iraqi Shi’ah scholar stated, “Basrah has enjoyed great economic and human capacities and has been known only in the Middle East since ancient times. The United Arab Emirates, the Wahhabis, the Zionist regime, the United Kingdom and the United States aren’t working for the development and development of Basrah and on this basis, they using various methods to destroy Iraq.”
Referring to the attack by the arrogant countries against the offices and centres of the Popular Mobilization Forces and the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Basrah, he said, “We strongly condemn the aggression by the infiltrators against the offices of various Iraqi battalions, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Iranian consulate and the Popular Mobilization Forces’ Hospital. At the same time, the Popular Mobilization Forces Hospital was attacked and those who were admitted to this hospital were the same people who defended Basrah and Iraqi territory with their lives against the terrorist phenomenon.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Nasiri continued, “The attack on the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran is incorrect and contradictory to the national interests of Iraq and the perpetrators of this attack should have attacked the American embassy that destroyed the country instead of attacking the Iranian consulate. Although the attack on the Iranian Consulate was wrong, it gave us an opportunity to know the members of the Ba’athist Party and the infiltrators.”
He emphasized the need to recognize the role of the United States and the Zionist regime and the soft war launched against the Iraqi people and stated, “We must learn the rules of the soft war and must not think that there aren’t problems in this country but rather, as long as the United States and its agents are active in activities against Iraq on social media, such as Twitter, our country will be faced with a variety of problems.”
His Eminence said that the Iraqi people strongly condemn the actions of the United States and added, “The Iraqi people must hold a march in support of the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Islamic Republic of Iran and against the political pressure by the United States because the United States doesn’t want political stability and economic progress for Iraq.”
