Rasa - A prominent Iranian lawmaker lauded the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) for its successful confrontation with the terrorist groups, specially the ISIL, in the Western parts of the country.

RNA - “So far, the IRGC personnel, intelligence ministry agents, and border guards have succeeded to prevent the terrorists from entering Iran,” Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday.

He reiterated that the Iranian Armed Forces have the heavy duty of countering the terrorist groups given the current regional crises which is quite challenging.

"In recent years, the terrorists did their best to infiltrate in our country. They trained terror cells and dispatched them to our borders and the ISIL is mainly focused on this agenda, but the IRGC in numerous cases have encountered them in the borders,” Boroujerdi said.

In a relevant development on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif blasted Saudi Arabia for trying to alter the facts, saying that the world knows now that the Riyadh government and Washington have created and supported the ISIL terrorist group.

Zarif's remarks came in reaction to the Wednesday's anti-Iran statements by his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"No alternative facts provided by Riyadh and Washington could diminish Iran's successful contribution to the Daesh (ISIL) defeat," Zarif wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.

The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that the US and Saudi Arabia have created and supported the ISIL terrorists.

Speaking at a panel in the World Economic Forum in the Swiss town of Davos on Wednesday, Jubeir claimed that Iran was promoting a "vision of darkness" in the region while the Saudi Arabia had a "vision of light."

Saudi Arabia is widely viewed as the homeland of radical Wahhabism, the same ideology influencing Takfiri outfits such as the ISIL, which have been wreaking havoc in the Middle East and beyond for years. The US has also been supporting different terrorist groups in the region.

On the contrary, Iran has been assisting Syria and Iraq in their counter-terrorism fights at the request of their respective governments.
