He emphasized that those who are not competent mustn’t take government positions and said, “The country’s officials must use all their power to serve the people and the Islamic Revolution, if officials would address issues such as poverty, high expenses, discrimination, unemployment, corruption and astronomical salaries instead of addressing the rights of citizenship and so on, then surely the country’s problems would be resolved.”

His Eminence stated that standing up for demands is the right of the people, said, “No one has the right to stand against the cries of the people because the people are discontented and are suffering.”

He stated that one of the reasons for the recent riots is the lack of acknowledgement of the people’s demands by the Islamic Consultative Assembly and added, “If the parliament doesn’t defend the rights of the people, people will be forced to go to the streets in order to demand their rights and this will turn out to be the best opportunity for the enemies to harm the Islamic establishment.”

Noting that people are dissatisfied with the performance of the officials, the Iranian official said, “The people don’t have any issues with the Islamic establishment and the Islamic Revolution and if the unemployment crisis and livelihood problems are resolved people will no longer have a reason to protest.”
