Ayatollah Hasan Alemi
RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Hasan Alemi, the representative of the people of Khorasan Razavi province in the Assembly of Experts, said, “The most important demand of the Iranian people from the authorities is to solve the economic and livelihood problems facing the country.”

The Iranian cleric added, “The current unsatisfactory economic conditions and the authorities’ lack of fulfillment of their promises have been among the most important factors for the protests by the people in recent days and this led to their misuse by some anti-revolutionary and malicious elements against the system.”

Ayatollah Alemi emphasised that the government is obligated to improve the living conditions of the people and to pay special attention to the employment of the youth and said, “The government must be the servant of the people and the authorities must not fail to deal with the affairs of the people. The authorities must know that they cannot always escape and avoid the demands of the people.”

His Eminence pointed out that the people of the nation must act in a correct manner and stated, “Solving the problems faced by society is the rational demand of the people from the government, so the authorities must actually enter the field instead of delegating the work to others.”

Noting that the root of the unrest must be pursued in the plots by the West and the United States, he said, “The revolutionary, conscious and insightful people are listening to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] with all their being and they know well that the recent unrest was part of the enemy’s weapon to harm the Islamic Revolution.”

Ayatollah Alemi stated that the burning of the flag of Iran, which is illuminated with the name of God, by a group of rioters revealed their hatred of Islam and said, “The people have not forgotten the 9 Dey [30 December 2009 – the end of the 2009 post-election sedition] and by supporting the Islamic Revolution, they will never allow the harsh slogans of the rioters to become louder.”

In conclusion, the representative of Khorasan Razavi Province in the Assembly of Experts noted that the people must pay attention to the deceptions by this false movement and not play the role of the black army for them. In such a situation, the atmosphere of evil will be lost to them and disappear from the realm of existence.”

Last week, a number of peaceful protests over economic problems broke out in several Iranian cities, but the gatherings turned violent when groups of participants, some of them armed, vandalized public property and launched attacks on police stations and government buildings.

Over a dozen people have been killed in the ensuing violence, according to Iranian media reports.
