RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala’s Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn, Hujjat al-Islam Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbala’i emphasized on the necessity of a commitment to the principles of citizenship, saying, “A good citizen assists with the development, expansion and prosperity of his country and to live alongside others with peace and affection.”

The representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Karbala added that in every situation they face, mankind must feel responsible to their country because moving towards the principles of citizenship is in the best interests of everyone.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Karbala’i called for compliance with the laws and regulations of the country and stated, “The treasury belongs to all people and for this reason, it must be protected from theft. The person who steals money from the treasury is as if stolen from all people.”

His Eminence called for the resolution of problems and disagreements through dialogue and understanding and stated that some tribal and ethnic disputes have led to the killing of innocent people over very simple issues.

He continued, “Some rumours and allegations spread on social networks have caused a lot of harm in society against individuals or certain organizations and such issues should be avoided.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Karbala’i noted that the people must be vigilant in avoiding any methods and means that cause conflict among various individuals, especially those with religious and social positions.

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn emphasized on environmental protection and cleanliness in all areas.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Karbala’i had previously stressed the need to preserve human rights and public rights and not to override methods and funds for personal use.
