The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops hit ISIL's defense lines hard in Southwestern and captured a region and its surrounding mountains.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL North of the town of al-Quaryatayn Southwest of Homs province, taking full control over al-Marmalah region and its surrounding mountains, military sources reported on Friday.

Relevant reports said earlier that the Syrian Army troops kicked off a fresh round of anti-ISIL operation codenamed Valfajr 3 in Syria's Badiyeh (desert) and managed to advance toward the second station in Southeastern Homs.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL East of Humeimeh region and advanced against terrorists in a large region in 8km depth and 5km in width South of a road connecting Humeimeh to the second station.

The army men entered border region with Deir Ezzur 9km away from the second station following the advances.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army forces continued their anti-ISIL operations in Eastern Deir Ezzur and managed to open their way into the al-Amr oilfield complex, the largest energy field in the country.

Military sources confirmed on Friday that the army units reached the regions near al-Amr oilfield just moments ago after they crossed the Euphrates River and moved to the Eastern bank of the river opposite the newly-freed town of al-Mayadeen after capturing the town of Zeiban earlier on Friday.

They added that Syrian army forces have achieved fire control over the huge energy site, forcing the ISIL militants to fully withdraw from the region.

The al-Amr oilfield contributed to about one quarter of Syria’s oil production before the war and it was captured by ISIL militants in mid-2014.

Reports said earlier on Friday that the army men captured Zeiban and several villages near al-Mayadeen in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, and came close to al-Amr oilfield.

The soldiers built floating bridge over the Euphrates River and crossed it.

The army soldiers later advanced against ISIL on the Eastern bank of the river, trying hard to take control over al-Amr oilfield and later move eastward to the borders with Iraq.

Most of the ISIL-affiliated news sources have not reacted to the developments, but Anab website reported that ISIL has started vast retreat in the region stretching from Deir Ezzur base to the town of al-Mayadeen.

In the meantime, the army soldiers resumed their anti-ISIL operation towards the town of Albu Kamal at the border with Iraq.

Al-Amr oilfield is located a few kilometers away from the town of Zeiban.
