RNA – Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Musa Shobeyri-Zanjani, a renowned source of emulation, has issued a statement following the tragic fire and collapse of Tehran’s Plasco Building in which he expressed sympathy with the victims.

Tehran’s Plasco Building caught fire early Thursday morning and came down only hours later, trapping 25 to 30 people under the debris and led to the deaths of 20 firefighters.

His Eminence’s statement is as follows:

In the name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

God Almighty has said, “…And give good news to the patient, who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are God’s and to Him we shall surely return. Those are they on whom are blessings and mercy from their Lord, and those are the followers of the right course”
[al-Baqarah: 155-157]

The tragic incident in regard to the Plasco Building in which a group of the best sons of this land lost their lives is heavy on everyone’s heart.

I offer my condolences on this most painful tragedy to the Imam of the Time [Imam al-Mahdi] (may God hasten his reappearance) and to the [Iranian] nation, particularly to the bereaved and distinguished families of the self-sacrificing and life-giving firefighters and I pray that Almighty God grants the victims a lofty rank and grants the survivors a goodly patience.

Death is a path which no one will escape its passing and blessed are those who walk this path with such courage and bravery and achieve an envy-inspiring end for themselves.

The Final Prophet [Muhammad] (peace be upon him and his progeny) said, “Whoever saves a group of Muslims from the danger of flood or fire, paradise become obligatory for him”
[al-Kafi, volume 2, page 164].

According to another narration from the Prophet, this person is given the reward of a martyr.
