RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Hasan al-Masri, the deputy director of the Political Bureau of the Lebanese Amal Movement, spoke on the latest information in regard to the trial of Hannibal al-Qadhafi, one of the sons of former Libyan dictator Muammar al-Qadhafi, in Lebanon and said that since 1972 there has been a lot of speculation concerning the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr, the leader of Lebanon’s Shi’ahs, who disappeared, along with two companions, in the summer of 1978 during a visit to Libya to meet al-Qadhafi.

Hannibal is in Lebanese custody and has been charged with hiding information regarding Imam al-Sadr’s case.

The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric added, “In this regard, Amal doesn’t want to open an account in regard to the words of Hannibal al-Qadhafi. Basically, we believe that Hannibal [who was a three-year old child in 1978] could not have distinguished anything at the time and can’t offer any information about this issue.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Masri said that Muammar al-Qadhafi and the former Libyan regime are responsible for Imam al-Sadr’s disappearance and said, “Hence we do not want to place the blame on someone else. We should not forget that al-Qadhafi’s government was established in an era of terrorism to such a degree that didn’t exist elsewhere in the region.”

“During that period, the al-Qadhafi regime engaged in kidnapping, torture and the murder of the opponents which was unparalleled anywhere else in the world,” he said.

He added that there is no doubt that al-Qadhafi was the executor of the policies of Israel and the United States and was supported by the American government to overthrow King Idris al-Senussi.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Masri described Imam al-Sadr as the founder of the Islamic Resistance Axis and said that during an era when the enemies attempted to make Muslims disregard any animosity toward Israel, Imam al-Sadr always insisted that there was no greater enemy for the Muslim world, Islamic countries and humanity besides the Zionist regime.

His Eminence added that the main reason for the arrest of Hannibal al-Qadhafi was not the Imam al-Sadr issue but rather because he violated Lebanese law and added that Amal didn’t issue any complaint over Hannibal al-Qadhafi because he isn’t at the level to represent his father in court and from the perspective of Amal, he has nothing to say.

“Moreover, the position of Imam al-Sadr is much higher than someone like Hannibal al-Qadhafi to comment about him,” he stressed.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Masri said that the Lebanese judiciary is pursuing the case of Imam al-Sadr but we don’t think that Hannibal al-Qadhafi can do anything for in this regard. Even in his statements, he pointed out clearly that he has no knowledge of this case and only individuals like Abdussalam Jalloud, a former Prime Minister of Libya, Sayf al-Islam al-Qadhafi and Libyan security officials at the time can reveal the facts.
