RNA - Addressing the 9th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on Tuesday morning, Seyyedeh Fatemeh Zolghadr stressed the necessity for recognizing the nature and root causes of crises in the region.

The emergence and spread of terrorist and extremist groups, like Daesh, in the region is one of the outcomes of the Western powers’ interference in other countries’ internal affairs, she noted.

The US and other expansionist powers, in order to justify their attacks and acts of interference, claim that they are fighting terrorism or preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction or establishing democracy, the Iranian parliamentarian said.

Takfiri terror groups like Daesh are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

Countries like Iraq and Syria have been gripped by the terrorist groups.

The groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have been committing heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims, but mostly against Muslims in the region.
