Rasa – The revered source of emulation said that some foreigners insist on eliminating hijab from Iranian society and if they succeed, they will have struck a heavy blow against the country’s Islamic system because the Islamic system is tied to the hijab.

RNA – Speaking at the Mashhad’s Holy Shrine of Imam Ali al-Ridha on Thursday night, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi noted the arrival of “Hijab and Chastity Week” and explained that “the new generations may not know” that 81 years ago, Reza Khan ordered a decree prohibiting the veil, adding: “The United Kingdom installed Reza Khan on the throne and ordered him to eliminate Islam from this country because the enemy of the both Britain and him is Islam which must begin with the hijab.”

 

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi added that the veil is an important issue and if we eliminate it, it would be considered preparation for the elimination of Islam that our enemies are seeking. 

 

His Eminence said that hijab is obligatory in Islam and all Islamic sects recognize this, adding:  “The enemies of Islam have understood that the hijab is one of the requirements of Islam and for this reason, they fight against it in their countries.

 

The renowned scholar said that sexual abuse is one of the worst tragedies in Europe and North America and added that many women and girls are sexually abused because of existence of nudity and improper dress in these societies.

 

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said that hijab is the secret of the health of family and prevents many evils in society and thus, Islam places must importance on hijab.

 

His Eminence called on Muslims not to allow others to weaken hijab and added that some foreigners insist on eliminating hijab from Iranian society and if they succeed, they will have struck a heavy blow against the country’s Islamic system because the Islamic system is tied to the hijab.
