RNA – The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Husayni-Sistani broke his recent silence over the recent events occuring in the Iraqi political scene by releasing a statement and announced that he will closely monitor events in Iraq.

In the statement, Ayatollah Sistani’s office in‌ the holy Iraqi city of Najaf said that they will carefully monitor developments in Iraq and warned everyone that the current approach in dealing with the issues and crises facing the country must not continue.

In recent weeks, Iraq, especially Baghdad, has seen an increase of political tension such that the implementation of political reforms and protests in Baghdad has led to protesters entering the “Green Zone” and ending with them entering the Iraqi parliament.

An official at the office of Ayatollah Sistani said the Shi’a authority carefully follows events from close up and said that although the country is in the hands of those who are expected to be of service to their people, given the current situation in the country, His Eminence expressed regret that those who are busy serving others’ interests and creating political tensions have increased the people’s suffering.

The official warned all parties against continuing their current practices in dealing and managing the issues and crises affecting Iraq and said that we want them to think about the future of this nation and to take serious and tangible steps toward a better future and to leave the current path behind.

He denied reports in the last few days about the alleged political positions of the Shi’a source of emulation and said that such news is completely unfounded.

A few months ago, the office of Ayatollah Sistani protested the actions of Iraqi politicians and their attention to political conflicts rather than solving the problems of the people by discontinuing his political sermon delivered by a representative during Friday prayers.
