RNA – Speaking to Rasa News, Hujjat al-Islam Mojtaba Zonnour, an advisor to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, referred to the remarks made by Iran's Supreme Leader saying that the imperial powers and the global arrogance have implemented several strategies to deal with Islam and Islamic countries for several years.
His Eminence said that Samuel Huntington’s theory of a “Clash of Civilizations,” which had been somewhat abandoned with the end of the Cold War, was raised once again in the wake of the Western-led wars on Afghanistan and Iraq after the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11th.
“From his safe haven in the US, George W. Bush launched a new crusade against the Islamic world,” he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said that the killing of the people of Iraq and Afghanistan has not achieved any results for the West and the US. The US alone spent $2.7 billion and has killed 12,000 people since launching the “War on Terror."
His Eminence said that in order to create a clash within civilizations, the West has used extremist and Takfiri groups as a proxy to fight their wars in the region and their only plan is to buy out the leaders of Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia and dispense their extremist and Takfiri forces throughout the Islamic world, killing Muslims and destroying Islamic unity and the countries themselves.
Referring to the crimes of the House of Saud, he said that today it’s obligatory on all Muslims, especially the scholars, to raise awareness of the Islamic Awakening, explain the ominous intentions of the enemies to the Muslim world and expose the rulers of Islamic countries and their dependence on the imperialist powers.
Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said that Takfiri Shi’as and Sunnis are two sides of the same coin as they have been created to provoke conflicts in the Muslim world and to serve the imperialist power system.
“Sunnis and Shi’as should work together to avoid extremism, the insulting of each other’s religious sanctities and should stress upon their commonalities,” he said.
