RNA – Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of Iraq’s Sadrist Movement, has warned Israel against establishing diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates, stressing that the aim of opening a diplomatic mission in the Persian Gulf monarchy represents a normalization of relations between the Zionist regime and the UAE.

Last Friday, Israel announced that it will “soon” open a “permanent mission” in Abu Dhabi despite the ostensible, traditional Arab-Israeli conflict, which is to operate as part of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) based in the Emirati capital. The action has led to much debate and division between various political groups in the UAE.

The Iraqi politician and cleric said that after agreeing to allow the Israeli mission to open in Abu Dhabi, the UAE has made first step in the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime and by accepting Egypt’s request to establish a branch of al-Azhar University in the country, UAE’s rulers are attempting to conceal Israel’s crime of establishing a mission in their country.

The leader of the Sadrist Movement wondered if the UAE’s rulers’ cooperation in the oppression of the people of the region with the United States was not enough that they felt that they should take steps to normalize relations with Israel.
