RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Shaykh Maher Abdul-Razzaq, the head of the Unity and Reform Movement of Lebanon, referred to the United States’ efforts to influence Lebanon, saying that the US’ agenda to influence Lebanon involves spreading internal sedition and sectarianism among the small but religiously diverse people of the Arab countries.
He added that the US financially supports the Zionist regime in its hostile efforts against Lebanon and has financed a sectarian campaign to ignite a sectarian conflict between Sunnis and Shi’ites, but that the Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah] has been able to prevent this agenda.
The Sunni cleric added that the US will never use a single method to spread its influence in Lebanon but sometimes, they send spies to infiltrate the country and other times they attempt to spread rumours to create tension in the country and lies to mislead the people.
His Eminence said that there are many associations and groups that operate under the supervision of the American embassy in Lebanon. These groups spread their influence in some of the key centres in the country under the pretext that they provide necessary services and social assistance within the country.
He said that the US has long proven its animosity to Lebanon by using Western and Arab media networks as a “destructive weapon” to implement its desires in the Middle East. The US uses the media networks under its control to influence the culture and thoughts of the Lebanese people and Arabs throughout the region by directing the media’s to make statements in regard to the issue of terrorism, such as the danger of bombs and missiles in the country.
Shaykh Abdul-Razzaq explained that the US targets the great resistance of the people within this small country, adding that Lebanon has been introduced as the only country that has been able to defeat the Zionist entity. “The Lebanese Islamic Resistance has turned the legend of the invincible army into reality,” he said.
He stressed upon the importance of Lebanon in the region, saying that due to its closeness to Israel, Lebanon is the only country that can target the Zionist regime by launching missiles against it and defeat it in its own home. “Thus, Lebanon is considered a serious threat to the Zionist regime and has undermined this puppet regimes’ perceived grandeur and poses a threat to its stability,” he said.
In conclusion, the head of the Unity and Reform Movement of Lebanon said supporting the Lebanese army, the Islamic Resistance and the leaders is the key to Lebanese unity. “Through unity, we can achieve victory over all of our enemies and prevent their influence on our country,” he said.
