Egyptian Scholar:
Rasa – "Members of deposed president Hosni Mubarak’s regime and many people who are connected to political parties such as the Free Egyptians Party have provided a platform for American influence in the country," an Egyptian analyst told Rasa News.
Haytham Abdelnabi

RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Haytham Abdelnabi, the head of the Egyptian Human Rights Association, discussed the United States’ influence on the economics, politics and culture of Egypt.

He explained that the American agenda to spread its influence in the Middle East is not just limited to the present time, but the plan has been in operation for many years.

"In Egypt the American agenda began as far back as 1978 when the infamous Camp David Accords were signed between Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, American President Jimmy Carter and Egyptian President Anwar el-Sadat," he added.

The Egyptian Shi’ite and scholar explained that certain groups with Egypt are assisting the Americans in their goals and are providing them with a platform to strengthen their influence in the North African country. “Members of deposed president Hosni Mubarak’s regime and many people who are connected to political parties such as the Free Egyptians Party have provided a platform for American influence in the country,” he said.

Abdelnabi stressed that some individuals and groups supportive of American policies and political parties which are connected to the US have repeatedly insulted and accused Egyptian Shi’ites of collaborating with Iran and have even called them “mercenaries of Iran.”

He added that the US controls many groups within Egypt which it uses to implement its policies and interests, especially among the youth. “The increase of ethnic and religious intolerance among Egyptians is a result of the influence of the US and its allies,” he said.

The Egyptian scholar emphasized that the US is preventing an alliance between Iran and Egypt because such an alliance would lead to a change in the affairs of the people of the Islamic world in their favour which would be dangerous for American interests.

Abdelnabi stressed that the US is the obedient servant of Israel, and thus in order to understand the US’ cultural and social goals in Egypt, we need to understand Israel’s goals. The Zionist entity seeks to fulfill its desire to rule the lands between the Nile and the Euphrates and this dream is being manifested in a new form through a change in Israel’s intellectual, cultural and economic approaches toward the Egyptian people and through the normalization of relations with the Egyptian government.

The member of the Egyptian Society for the Defense of the Islamic Resistance stated that the US has invested in training forces allied to themselves on Egyptian soil and seeks to change the people’s view of their polices as part of its efforts to influence the Egyptian people, adding that groups supportive of the US and Israel, including so-called Human Rights organizations, which have received funds from the US and the European Union, have been formed with the aim of protecting Israel’s security.

“Egypt’s renowned al-Azhar religious institution has also fallen into this trap. Some of the countries that support the US have poured huge amounts of money into al-Azhar in the name of Islam in order to promote the Takfiri ideology within al-Azhar and thus, Egyptian society,” he stressed.

The Egyptian political activist said that there were religious and cultural changes among the Egyptian people after the Camp David Accords and stressed that corruption in education and culture have become commonplace and the only way to fight it is through economic, intellectual and media retaliation.

“The duties of the religious scholars and intellectuals in this regard is very important and unfortunately, some scholars, such as Yusuf al-Qaradhawi, have enforced American policies and scholars must deal with such individuals and prevent them from influencing the youth,” Abdelnabi explained.
