Bahraini Shi’ite Scholar:
Rasa – The representative of the leader of Bahrain’s Shi’ites stated that the execution of Ayatollah al-Nimr will fuel internal conflict in Saudi Arabia and the fate of the House of Saud will be similar to the fate which befell Muhammad Mursi and his government after the killing of Egyptian Shi’ite cleric, Shaykh Hasan Shehata.

RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Abdullah al-Daqqaq, the representative of the Bahraini Shi’ite leader, Shaykh Ali Salman, condemned Saudi Arabia for upholding its death sentence on prominent anti-Saudi regime activist and Shi’ite cleric, Ayatollah Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, and said that this death sentence will prompt disagreements between the ruling family in Saudi Arabia.

The Bahraini activist stressed that the implementation of this sentence refers to the circumstances of the day in such a way that if it benefits the House of Saud to implement their death sentence on Ayatollah al-Nimr, they will certainly do it. “If it doesn’t benefit them, they probably won’t go ahead with their plans to execute him,” he said.

In regard to the reaction after the possible implementation of the death sentence, he said that currently, it is not possible to predict and evaluate the aftermath of the execution of Ayatollah al-Nimr but history and experience testifies that the blood of people in similar circumstances, such as Shaykh Hasan Shehata, a prominent Egyptian Shi’a cleric who was brutally martyred in 2013 by Salafi extremists, will not be in vain.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Daqqaq added that at the time of the martyrdom of Shaykh Shehata no one could predict what would happen after his cruel murder, but you can see how the government of Muhammad Mursi was overthrown and imprisoned after this incident. “So now, no one can predict the consequences of the execution of Ayatollah al-Nimr,” he said.

His Eminence stated that holding mass protests, especially in front of the White House in the United States and in front of the British Parliament, is a way to pressure the Saudi government to stop their plans to execute Ayatollah al-Nimr. He also called on the case of Ayatollah al-Nimr to be referred to the legal bodies and international courts.

The representative of Shaykh Ali Salman said that some governments can create relative calm in the region and prevent the execution of this Saudi cleric.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Daqqaq emphasized that one of the duties of religious scholars is to stand with the oppressed and stand against the oppressors, adding that scholars can shed light on the oppression against Ayatollah al-Nimr through their lectures and invite people to defend him.

In conclusion, His Eminence said that the death sentence against Ayatollah al-Nimr will fuel internal conflict between Muhammad ibn Nayef, the Saudi Interior Minister, and Muhammad ibn Salman, the Defense Minister, and other groups of generals and princes.

“God-willing, the throne of the House of Saud will be overthrown soon,” he said.
