RNA – Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi referred to the recent nuclear agreement made between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries and stated that the reality of the nuclear issue has shown that no one can deny the facts and we should realize that no agreement will be 100% in our favour.

He explained the West doesn’t care if the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action affects Iran’s honour or crosses its red lines, pointing to the West’s dark record of breaking agreements and noted that it is probable that the enemy will misuse the JCPOA to gain advantages and we must be vigilant of them.

“This will not stop them and it is probable that they may interpret the text of the JCPOA in their own favour,” he said.

The renown source of emulation made the remarks in his meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-e Ravanchi in Qom.

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi stressed that Foreign Ministry officials must be vigilant in regard to the West’s misinterpretations of the JCPOA, calling on them to establish think tanks to observe their behaviour and speech.

"Wherever the Western powers seek to present misinterpretations of the agreement, the think tanks can announce them immediately," he said.

His Eminence said that there are also individuals in Iran who have criticized the agreement but stressed that they should be treated with tolerance. The importance of the agreement should be explained to them with logic and in a friendly manner. “With respect and kindness, they can realize the importance of this issue,” he said.

The revered scholar explained that the obtainment of an agreement is a victory for Iran’s Islamic government and added that all the major powers were on one side of the table and we were alone on the other side of the table. “This is a matter that has not been repeated before in history but without meaning to, they turned Iran into a global power,” he said.

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said this agreement has resulted in the development of internal conflict between the West, Saudi Arabia and Israel, stressing: “These allies have fallen into internal conflict is unprecedented in history.”

In regard to the February 2016 parliamentary elections, the source of emulation stressed the importance and necessity of unity in the country because "our enemies are closely watching us and our internal differences are not hidden from them."

“Conflicts and disputes should not occur in the upcoming election,” he stressed.
