RNA - IQNA quoted a local source in the Iraqi province of Nineva as saying Sheikh Yasser Yunis’s body was handed to Mosul morgue after he was shot in the head.

He had been taken from his home by the militants earlier.

Sheikh Yunis, 50, was opposed to ISIL ideology and refused to pledge allegiance with the Takfiri group.

The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control shrinking swathes of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
