Rasa – A senior Ansarullah member and Yemeni scholar has pointed out that the and the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution, as Yemeni revolutionaries seek freedom from oppression and the establishment of an Islamic state.
Dr Ali Yahya Ali Sharafuddin

RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Dr Ali Yahya Ali Sharafuddin, a Yemeni scholar with a PhD in Educational Affairs and a manager in the Ministry of Justice of Yemen, a Sana’a University professor and member of the Advisory Council of Ansarullah, spoke about the current situation in Yemen and the of the future of the political system in his war-torn country.

Dr Sharafuddin explained that the Wahhabi ideology is a ideology of ignorance and added that ignorance and knowledge are opposed to each other. This is the reason why such people have closed their eyes to the crimes of the House Saud and endorsed the aggression and murder of defenceless Muslims in Yemen, even during these sacred months where war is religiously forbidden.

He added that other groups of informed and knowledgeable Muslim scholars throughout the world have condemned the criminal and cowardly acts by the Saudi regime – including a united group of Shafi’i Sunni, Twelver Shi’a, Zaydi Shi’a and Sufi scholars.

His Eminence explained that Shaykh Suhayl ibn Aqil Ibrahim, a Sunni scholar and a Grand Mufti of the Shafi’i school of thought who is nearly a hundred years old, has recently condemned the criminal acts of aggression against the people of Yemen by the House of Saud by openly issuing a fatwa calling for jihad against Saudi Arabia. He added that even if one of Yemeni citizen remains, we must stand with him with all our might against the House of Saud.

“However,” Dr Sharafuddin added, “following the issuing of this fatwa, several armed groups tried to assassinate him. As recently as three days ago, after he gave an interview with the ‘al-Mayadeen’ network in Lebanon where he expressed strong opposition to the Saudi regime, a group of people attacked his house but were prevented from attaining their goals by his followers.”

The Yemeni scholar traced the roots of Wahhabism in Yemen to the 1962 North Yemen Civil War in which Saudi Arabia supported the royalist side and sent in mercenaries to fight against the Republican side. After the Republican victory, the Saudis attempted to promote and disseminate their Wahhabi ideology in Yemen, especially in the northern regions which are predominately Zaydi, but as we can see with the rise of Ansarullah, which fights on the path of the Quran and the Ahlul-Bayt (A), the Saudi goal to lead the Yemeni people astray through religious fanaticism has remained illusive.

Dr Sharafuddin explained that if we want to fully understand the reasons for the invasion of Yemen by the Saudi regime we can describe it through four important issues:

1 – With the fall of Abd-Rabbuh Mansur Hadi’s government, Saudi Arabia has lost all its “henchmen” in the political and administrative system of Yemen. The Saudis had around thirty thousand people inside Yemen implementing their programs.

2 – Due to the 2011 Yemeni Revolution, the people achieved complete political and economic independence from Saudi Arabia, which eventually forced them to attack Yemen this spring. This political and economic independence was due to the efforts of the martyr, Hussein Badruddin al-Houthi, who was inspired by the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution and the leadership of Imam Khomeini in the fight for freedom from oppression and the establishment of an Islamic state.

3 – Yemen has huge oil and gas assets and also gold mines and Saudi Arabia wants to get their hands on it due to their greed.

4 – Saudi Arabia and the United States want to gain control and domination over the strategic Bab el-Mandab Strait due to their support for Israel. By gaining control of the strait, they gain greater regional security for the Zionist state and for themselves.

Dr Sharafuddin added that there is no doubt that Israel is directly involved in the Saudi aggression on Yemen. The Saudis are using weapons and technology that only the US, UK and Israel have acquired. This indicates that the usurper regime of Israel is directly involved. They also coordinate very closely with Saudi Arabia to bomb different areas in Yemen and certainly the coordinates they use are from American satellites.

He added that Ansarullah has a large number of Russian Scud missiles and other advanced weapons systems at its disposal, which the Saudi aggressors have failed to destroy. He added that the Yemeni revolutionaries have managed to target nearby military bases inside Saudi Arabia.

Dr Sharafuddin explained that Ansarullah trusts in God Almighty and has strong determination and iron will which creates fear among the invaders, adding: “I believe in Yemen’s victory. Of course we, need the support of Islamic countries like Iran... The Yemeni people are oppressed in their home country, but the promise of a bright future is what Yemen has been waiting for. The result is that by the blood of the Yemeni martyrs, the House of Saud will be exposed to the world.”
