RNA – Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Sa’id al-Tabataba’i al-Hakim, a senior source of emulation in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf, has met with Baroness Emma Nicholson, the British Trade Envoy for Iraq. His Eminence warned Baroness Nicholson of the consequences of worldwide terrorism, especially given the ongoing threat of Takfiri terrorism facing Iraq.

Ayatollah al-Hakim said that the Takfiri reign of terror began with the slaughter of Shi’ite Muslims in Afghanistan and then spread to Iraq and the Middle East and has now reached Europe. All of these problems are due to the lack of attention paid to radicalization and the propagation of violent ideologies and culture by certain governments. He cited this an example of the double standards of certain governments, stressing that certain Western countries and their agents in the Middle East publicly condemn terrorism but secretly support and assist Takfiri groups, who have engaged in brutal and unspeakable actions.

The renowned teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Najaf pointed out that Shi’ites are more vulnerable to terrorism than any other sect or group, saying that the Takfiri phenomenon which is currently threatening the world began only about 100 years ago. He also emphasized and the supporters of this thought must be identified.

Ayatollah al-Hakim emphasized that despite the prevalence of problems and hardships that Shi’ites continue to suffer from, they have persevered in the fight against DAESH (ISIL). These Takfiri terrorists have launched an intellectual war have not been successful  because the influence of their thought has been accepted by anyone else.

His Eminence explained that the Shi’ite Muslims living in the United Kingdom stated that increasing the number of Shi’ites in the UK is not important, but rather their adherence to Islamic principles is important.

“We are the guiders of the followers of the Family of the Infallible Household (A) of the Prophet Muhammad (S) in the United Kingdom and around the world so that they can be the role models of [Islamic] ethics and morals to others and refrain from violence and lawlessness,” Ayatollah al-Hakim emphasized to Baroness Nicholson.

Baroness Emma Nicholson is Executive Chairman of the Iraq-Britain Business Council, an organisation which facilitates business, trade investment, human resources, training and transfer of technology and know-how into the Republic of Iraq.
