Rasa – After an intensive meeting Tamam Salam tasked to form the new government of Lebanon
Tamam Salam
Rasa News Agency Reports – After a meeting with Michel Sleiman the president, and Nabih Berri the speaker of the Lebanese Parliament in the presidential palace in Baabda, Tamam Salam has been announced as the new prime minister of Lebanon and tasked to form a new government.
Tamam Salam takes the office by 124 votes for confidence given by the MPs.
In his address before being announced as the Lebanese PM, Salam mentioned the prosperity of the country as his goals and said: “Finishing and enforcement of the election law, stability of the national security and noticing the nations interests is the upcoming plans which should be executed by the cooperation of people and the resistance movement”.
Considering the arm of the resistance movement as the sponsor of the security of Lebanon, he emphasized: “we will stand against the enemies by the side of the resistance movement”.
It’s worth saying that controversy over extending the presence of Major General Ashraf Rifi in the general security office and forming a committee to monitor the election caused explosion of the internal crises of Lebanon and as a result Najib Mikati and his government resigned. And the presence of Rifi in the general security office extended while he was about to be retired at the beginning of the current month.
So, what happened was predictable and Makati's avoidance and patience policy toward the international and regional pressures specially the US and Saudi pressures to overthrow the Lebanese government didn't work. Also the critical situation inside Lebanon was another reason for Mikati to resign.
