Ayatollah Alavi Gorgani

RNA – In a lecture to his students, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani, a professor in the Islamic Seminary of Qom, pointed to the noble verse of the Holy Quran Rwhere God Almighty states: “Know that your possessions and children are only a test, and that God — with Him is a great reward...” [8:28]  and stated that some children do not give any benefits to society but are a cause of discord and tribulations for their parents.

In regards to the verse: “So be wary of God, as much as you can...” [64:16] Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani explained that God has called us to have the utmost piety. He stated that taqwa or piety has been mentioned in more  than 80 verses of the Quran, and only in regard to its necessity in human life. He stressed the need to acknowledge the divine graces and to thank God for them. He did not grant the Iranian people freedom and independence with ease, but much blood had to be shed in order to achieve it, and it must be preserved from all danger.

Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution as the head of government in the Islamic Republic of Iran is a blessing from God upon the Iranian people, and said that crises experienced by most of the revolutions of the region were due to a lack of wise leadership and astute. Therefore, these revolutions became lost and confused.

He stressed that man should be knowledgeable in all fields. There is a dire need for teachers knowledgeable in religious issues. God has revealed religious knowledge to humans through the prophets and then the blessed imams. There must be a link between the imams and the people after the death of the “seal of the prophets.”

He concluded by saying: “There is no doubt that every human must go through a test on the Day of Judgement. Especially since the Quran warns everyone that even the prophets will be tested.”
