RNA - There is nothing funny about Islamophobia -- but there may just be a way to use humor to combat it.

 

According to HuffPost, in the wake of the Islamic State, Muslims around the world have found themselves in the spotlight for the offenses of a violent minority they want nothing to do with.

 

Many officials and activists have taken a stand against the religious profiling that has increased since ISIS became part of public discourse. But others have taken a more viral approach to spread awareness about Islam with tongue-in-cheek humor, spawning the hashtag #MuslimApologies.

 

Many of the tweets express weariness about having to apologize for the actions of extremists who claim to represent Islam.

 

They say their message is that All Muslims should not have to apologize for the actions of a few. And there is a lot more to Islam than the rampant stereotypes.
