Rasa News Agency reports - In a ceremony marking the beginning of the new academic year at the Islamic Seminary of Qom, Ayatollah Sayyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri told seminarians at Qom's famous Madrassah al-Faydhiyah Qom to use their limited time in the seminary wisely as they have been given opportunities that they may never see again in their lifetimes.

He told religious students to take advantage of the "golden opportunities" they have to study as they may not have the same experiences and abilities as they get older. The seminarian must also have a dedicated aim in his or her studies in order to succeed. His Eminence stressed upon the importance of learning Islamic jurisprudence and having a correct and complete understanding of Islam before they leave the seminary. "Students must have a commitment to knowledge and teaching this knowledge and to use the time they have wisely," the director of the Islamic Seminaries throughout Iran said.

Ayatollah Bushehri reminded them that since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, seminarians have had opportunities that did not exist in previous times to fulfill their Islamic duties and study in peace. He explained that the mission of the seminary is not just studying but promoting and teaching Islam. The summer holidays should not be wasted but should used to study and preach. One can use the summer holidays to study subjects that they did not have time for during the school year. "During the summer holidays, when there are no official classes, seminarians should be engaged in propagation of the religion," he advised.

He stated that the conditions of the world are incomparable to any other era as we are living in a dangerous time. We need to fight against doubts in the minds of the people and also against the enemies of Islam and Muslims. He added that seminarians are the guardians of the intellectual and doctrinal boundaries. If the enemy was to suddenly ambush us and shake the beliefs of our youth, we will not be blamed.
