Rasa News Agency reports – Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Shahidi, the director of the Martyrs’ Foundation and Veterans Affairs, spoke at an academic conference entitled “Determining the Position of the Veterans in the Sixth Development Plan.” He explained the importance that the Islamic Republic of Iran gives to martyrs and veterans affairs.

He explained that the Islamic Revolution and the Holy Defence period led to the victory of the people of Iran in various fields of the military, scientific, economic, culture, sacrifice and martyrdom. He pointed out that the Iranian nation’s culture of martyrdom has been exported to other Islamic countries and this has been proven by the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom seen in the Gazan people’s recent victory over the Zionist regime’s 51-day onslaught.

Hujjat al-Islam Shahidi explained that the issue of sacrifice and martyrdom played an important role in the fifth development plan and this conference is intended to clarify the status of veterans in the sixth development plan. It is also essential to have the opinions of scholars and experts at universities and seminaries on this issue. “This is important to further the emergence of a culture of sacrifice and martyrdom in our society,” he explained.

He further noted the remarks of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) about the need to strengthen the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom and the order of President Hasan Rohani to pursue and implement a comprehensive law to help veterans. “This is a sign that the Supreme Leader and the government gives importance to the issue of martyrdom and sacrifice,” he explained.

“The existence of many veterans and the children of martyrs and veterans studying in various academic fields in our universities proves that they can be very successful academically,” Hujjat al-Islam Shahidi concluded.
