RNA – Speaking during his class at the Holy Shrine of Hadhrat Abdul-Adhim al-Hasani in Rey, ‎Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi-Reyshahri, the representative of the people of Tehran ‎province in the Assembly of Experts, said, “In a passage of one of the luminous ‎supplications of Sahifah al-Sajjadiyah [‘The Scripture of Imam al-Sajjad’], Imam al-Sajjad ‎calls on God Almighty and says, ‘Oh God… Let me not be wronged while Thou canst repel ‎from me, let me not do wrong while Thou art powerful over holding me back.” ‎

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Hadhrat Abdul-Adhim al-Hasani added, “This statement, ‎like the passage of this supplication that was referred to in our previous class, doesn’t mean ‎that Imam al-Sajjad’s demand from God was decreed but rather that he must not succumb ‎to oppression.”‎

He said, “Just as mankind doesn’t like to be oppressed, he must not oppress others.”‎

Ayatollah Mohammadi-Reyshahri expressed that oppression is a wide-ranging issue and ‎stated, “Oppression contains various religious, moral, practical, individual and social ‎instances.”‎

His Eminence said that oppression is one of the most dangerous pests for faith and said, ‎‎“Those who believe and don’t pollute their faith with oppression will surely find tranquility in ‎this world and in the hereafter.”‎

He stated that oppression takes tranquility away from mankind and said, “Some assume that ‎there must be a president or commander in order to carry out oppression while man can ‎oppress others without having a status. Inner anxiety is the sign of oppression.”‎

Ayatollah Mohammadi-Reyshahri stated that good ethics will bring man toward development ‎and perfection, said, “Perhaps a person doesn’t perform the prayer night but because he is ‎patient, God will write the reward of a fasting person and the one who stays up all night in ‎worship for him and on the other hand, if a person is ill-mannered, he is placed among the ‎oppressors.”‎
