The Syrian Army pounded and inflicted heavy losses on the Ankara-backed terrorist groups, including Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) who had reinforced their military positions for combat with the government forces.

Since December 19, the Syrian Army has kicked off its military operations to take control of the last main military base of the terrorists in Southern and Eastern parts of Idlib province.

In a relevant development on Saturday, the Syrian Army repelled terrorist attacks in Idlib province.

According to Fars News Agency, the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation reported that up to 30 terrorists have been killed or wounded. There are no casualties among the Syrian military, Sputnik reported.

"Militants from the terrorist group Tahrir Al-Sham (formerly known as the Al-Nusra Front with the support of the Syrian National Army launched two attacks on the positions of the Syrian Armed Forces near the Jarjanaz town in the Idlib province. In each of the attacks, up to 50 militants were involved, they were supported by 5-6 pickups trucks with heavy weapons," Major General Yuri Borenkov, the head of the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation, said.

In a relevant development last week, General Command of the Syrian Army announced that it has cleared up more than 320 square kilometers of land and liberated more than 40 towns and villages in South and Southeastern Idlib after pushing back Tahir al-Sham al-Hay’at from their military positions in the region.

“Units of the Syrian Army continued their attack South and Southeastern Idlib amid a state of successive collapse among the armed terrorist organizations, inflicting heavy losses and casualties on them,” a statement by the army General command said.

The statement noted that the Syrian army managed to clean up more than 320 square kilometers of land and set free over 40 towns and villages in the South and Southeastern countryside of Idlib.

Um Tina, Abu Sharqi, Sha’ara, Farwan, Hraki, Abu Dafnah, Tal Haran, Jirjanaz and Tal Assayed are among the villages and towns liberated by the Syrian Army in Idlib.
