The ‎representative of Khuzestan in the Assembly of Experts‎ said that the government has a ‎duty to obtain public satisfaction and said, “The government ‎needs to consider the public ‎interest and satisfaction when making decisions.”‎

RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi, the ‎‎representative of the people of Khuzestan province in the Assembly of Experts‎, referred to ‎the recent ‎protests over the increased price of gasoline in Iran and said, “The events of the ‎last few days were instigated with the pretext of the increase of price of gasoline and by ‎riding the wave of the enemies and in regard to this subject, a number of issues must be ‎separated.” ‎

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom stressed that the government’s ‎resources are needed to provide a basic level of livelihood for the people and said, “Another ‎issue is that the provision of public safety,‎‏ ‏public places and public property is the ‎responsibility of the security bodies and the government must act in regard to their duties.”‎

Ayatollah Ka’bi ‎said that the government has a duty to obtain public satisfaction and said, ‎‎“The government needs to consider the public interest and satisfaction when making ‎decisions. Decisions which increase stress, crises and which weren’t implemented in an ‎appropriate manner are among the roots of the recent insecurity of the past few days and ‎the public grievances over the increased prices of gasoline.” ‎

His Eminence said, “The government could have pursued a gradual increase in the cost of ‎gasoline instead of increasing it abruptly from 10,000 rials [$0.08] to 30,000 rials [$0.25] a ‎litre so that it would have been tolerable for society.”‎

He stressed the necessity for the government to monitor the prices of goods and said, “The ‎government must try to stop the increased prices of goods and control the market so that ‎the people don’t witness the exploitation of the situation.” ‎

Ayatollah Ka’bi said, “The demands of the public must be made within the framework of the ‎law. One of the demands of the people is to maintain law and order and an active presence ‎in order to prevent the exploitation of the enemies’ to foment insecurity.”‎
