Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi categorically dismissed Manama’s recent accusations about Tehran's involvement in the smuggling of explosives to the tiny Persian Gulf island, describing the claim as worthless and based on illusions.

RNA - During his weekly presser in Tehran on Monday, Mousavi strongly rejected the recent remarks made by Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa who had accused Iran of meddling in the tiny Persian Gulf island’s internal affairs.

The Iranian diplomat described Bahraini foreign minister’s claims that Iran has been behind the transfer of a large number of explosives to the tiny island as delusional.

“What business do we have with this country,” asked Mousavi.

“They have to solve their security problems inside [their own country]. Such a blame game against great countries like Iran are worthless,” he underlined.

“We wish the good and wellbeing for all countries of the region, particularly Bahrain, if they are after stability, good neighborliness, and good will. Iran is after dialogue and intimate relations with each and every one of these countries,” Mousavi added.

The Iranian diplomat reminded that all proposals of Iran for establishing friendly ties with the Persian Gulf littoral states are on the table, and said, “If they refer to them, they can distance a little from their illusions and problems.”

Last week, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa accused Iran of meddling in the tiny Persian Gulf island’s internal affairs, claiming that Iran has been behind the transfer of a large number of explosives to his country.

According to Fars News Agency, the Bahraini foreign minister claimed that a large batch of arms and explosive materials has been transferred from Iran to Bahrain.

“The seized explosives and weapons were enough to annihilate half of the capital city of Manama,” he claimed.

The minister of the Al-Khalifa family added, “It is important for us that we receive a message of peace and good neighborliness from Tehran, otherwise we will consider Tehran as responsible (for transferring arms and explosives).”
