Emphasizing that we must not neglect helping the needy and the poor in the difficult ‎conditions we face due to the Coronavirus, Ayatollah Yazdi said, “Helping the needy is one of ‎the greatest acts of worship in the current situation.”‎

RNA – In a speech referring to the special conditions facing Iran on the eve of the holy ‎month of Ramadhan, Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, the head of the Society of Seminary ‎Teachers of Qom, said, “Many people have lost their jobs and former lives due to COVID-19 ‎‎(Coronavirus) and have to stay at home. These conditions, which are necessary according to ‎the orders of the country’s health care complexes and to save people’s lives, have caused ‎some people to suffer from stress and pressure in their lives. Therefore, anyone who has ‎the ability to, must help the weak, the poor, those who have a daily income and whose lives ‎depend on daily work or are unemployed.”‎

The member of the Assembly of Experts referred to the words of the Supreme Leader of the ‎Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, in praise of the spontaneous actions of ‎the people, and stated, “Just as the Supreme Leader pointed out, the people have ‎spontaneously formed committees in a number of cities and are helping the needy, which is ‎very effective, valuable and appropriate.”‎

Ayatollah Yazdi continued, “In this situation, there are several ways to help people who are ‎staying in their homes due to the Coronavirus. Whether in the form of not taking rent from ‎tenants or in the form of daily allowances and providing food and medicine of any quality. Of ‎course, this assistance is very effective.”‎

The member of the jurists of the Guardian Council also pointed out that the holy month of ‎Ramadhan is approaching, “It’s necessary to plan for the holy month of Ramadhan to help ‎people who have to stay at home and fast in this situation. Whether direct donations or ‎collecting donations and distributing them among the deserving or by guiding the benefactors ‎to the needy.”‎

He considered any help to the needy and participation in good deeds in the current situation ‎a great act of worship and added, “Each of these actions and assistance in the current ‎situation are considered worship. This assistance isn’t mere charity but charity that, due to ‎the current situation, have found a kind of extraordinary colour of worship and anyone who ‎is familiar with the current situation will understand this.”‎

In conclusion, Ayatollah Yazdi said, “We hope that God Almighty will grant success to all ‎those who are helping to solve the problems of the people and the needy these days and in ‎these difficult conditions.”‎
