Hujjat al-Islam Zamani:
The head of the Political and Social Office of the Islamic Seminaries of Iran announced the formation of specialized committees and outlined the efforts of the Islamic Seminaries to combat the Coronavirus.

RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad-Hasan Zamani, the head of the Political and Social Office of the Islamic Seminaries of Iran, detailed the Islamic Seminaries efforts to prevent the spread and spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), saying, “Since the inception of the Management Centre of the Islamic Seminaries two years ago, it has set up a headquarters for crisis and unexpected incidents that consist of several seminary organizations including the Management Centre of the Islamic Seminaries for Men, the Management Centre of the Islamic Seminaries for Women, al-Zahra University, the Propagation Office of the Islamic Seminaries and the Centre for the Services of the Islamic Seminaries.”

His Eminence said that the crisis headquarters has had significant activities over the last two years with the floods and earthquakes which have occurred in various parts of Iran and this includes the successful deployment of 14,000 seminarians during the floods in Lorestan, Khuzestan and Golestan last year.

He noted the existence of a branch of the crisis headquarters in all of the provinces and the unexpected spread of the Coronavirus, “Once the issue of the Coronavirus was raised and discovered, good measures were planned to prevent its growth. The virus came to Iran and Qom through a merchant coming from China via Turkey, unfortunately this person died and some of his family members became infected, but the discovery was made in Qom quickly.”

Hujjat al-Islam Zamani cited the crisis headquarter’s efforts to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and said, “Upon the discovery of the Coronavirus in Iran by Dr. Vakilinia, a specialist physician, the Islamic Seminaries organized the first meeting of the crisis headquarters with the presence of members of the higher institutions of the Islamic Seminaries and invited Dr. Vakilinia, the Director General of the Red Crescent of Qom Province and some other relevant authorities. On the first day the headquarters made 16 resolutions, most of which have been implemented so far.”

His Eminence said that the crisis headquarters made the decision to close the seminaries, which is currently ongoing. Another step was the preparation of brochures containing health advice and we received a set of materials from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and we provided these to all of the deputies of the Islamic Seminaries, all of the administrators of the Islamic Seminaries in the provinces, counties and the clergymen of the country.”

He emphasized that the next duty involves the provision of several thousand masks and disinfection facilities, which were received by the crisis headquarters from the Red Crescent and provided to the seminary and non-seminary organizations.

Hujjat al-Islam Zamani said that it’s the duty of seminarians to be present in the hospitals to encourage and thank the hard-working staff of the hospitals and said, “Some of these personnel haven’t been home for several days and have worked with complete motivation and dedication and a group of seminarians have presented them with donations of flowers and sweets to thank the staff.”
