The Iranian foreign ministry on Monday categorically denied possibility for holding bilateral negotiations with Washington, and stressed once again that the US is duty bound to lift the sanctions against Iran.

RNA - "Iran does not and will not have any bilateral talks with the Americans and this is our policy, and the Islamic Republic emphasizes that the Americans should return to the conditions before 2017, remove the cruel and unilateral sanctions imposed against the Iranian nation through the illegal withdrawal from the nuclear deal, return to the negotiating table within the framework of the G5+1, compensate for our damages, repent, return, sit in a corner and enter the equation," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi told reporters in Tehran today.

He added that Iran has informed the countries which tried to play a mediatory role between Tehran and Washington of its position and policies.

The nuclear deal was signed between Iran and six world states — namely the US, Germany, France, Britain, Russia and China — in 2015. It was also ratified in the form of a UN Security Council resolution.

However, Washington’s unilateral withdrawal in May 2018 and subsequent reimposition of anti-Iran sanctions left the future of the nuclear deal in limbo.

In November, Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said that the Trump administration has been deceived by hypocrites who claimed the Islamic Republic was weak, adding that it is months now that the White House is begging Tehran for talks after being disillusioned with its false presumptions.

Nobakht referred to the US begging for talks with Iran in recent months, saying that the reason why the White House is making such a demand is that Americans now well know the ruling establishment is Iran is much stronger than they thought.

Noting that Americans were deceived by the false slogans of the hypocrites, he added that now the US administration has declared several times that it is ready for talks and this is indicative of the country's high capabilities in all fields, including economy.
