Iranian Speaker's Advisor:
Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian warned that the US is supporting the ISIL terrorist group in political, security and military fields.

RNA - "The ISIL terrorist group is currently camping in Afghanistan and Americans support this terrorist group in political, security and military terms as they did in Iraq and Syria," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs Tadamichi Yamamoto in Tehran.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran always supports any mechanism with the centrality of Afghan government and participation of all involved parties as well as the key role of the UN for the spread of peace and stability in this country,” he added.

Amir Abdollahian underlined the need for restoration of peace in Afghanistan, and said, “Formation of the new government based on elections is essential for maintaining stability and security in Afghanistan.”

Elsewhere, he said that there are some risks that threaten peace in Afghanistan and region in particular, and added, “Formation of weak governments, orchestration of new map for dividing countries and instrumental use of terrorism are of the risks that threaten the lasting peace and security in the region especially in Afghanistan.”

Amir Abdollahian seized this opportunity to express his special thanks to the measures taken by the UN in realizing peace and security in the region, and added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has no trust in the United States and believes that US does not have goodwill towards the so-called peace talks."

Tadamichi Yamamoto, for his part, said that constructive talks have been made with regards to the restoration of peace and security in Afghanistan.

“We hope that the restoration of peace in Afghanistan will bring about positive achievements with the cooperation and collaboration of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries involved in the issue.”

In relevant remarks on Tuesday, Iranian Supreme Leader's top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said that the main element obstructing the peace process in Afghanistan is the intervention of invading countries, particularly the United States.

In a meeting with Tadamichi Yamamoto in Tehran, Velayati said the main problem facing the South Asian state is the presence of aggressors, particularly the US, there.

“If the Americans leave Afghanistan, the country’s civilized and politically-informed people will be able to determine their own fate free from their intervention,” he said.

According to Fars News Agency, Velayati pointed to a recent presidential election in Afghanistan and stressed the importance of strengthening unity in the ranks of the Afghan nation.

The senior Iranian official expressed hope that the new Afghan government would start working at the earliest.

“Iran has always supported Afghanistan and the establishment of peace and stability in this country, and measures towards that goal should undoubtedly be taken with the guidance of this country’s government and based on its nation’s will,” he added.

Velayati also called on the United Nations to play a more effective role in Afghanistan given the US conspiracies against the country and the entire region.
