The US war in Afghanistan is the most pointless and the longest running war in American history, says a political analyst.

RNA - “This is the longest running war in American history and its objectives are still unclear,” Kevin Barrett told Press TV on Wednesday. It is “the most pointless war in American history.”

He went on to say that “Afghanistan is once again proving itself to be the graveyard of empires and indeed the US empire has declined considerably in its global influence since 2001.”

“One might even imagine that the September 11 false flag attack, which was primarily designed to trick the United States into destroying the enemies of greater Israel, was also designed to cripple US power,” he added.

Barrett made the remarks after on Monday an American service member was killed in combat in Afghanistan with the Taliban later tweeting a purported photo of the slain soldier’s identity card.

The latest incident brings the number of US deaths in Afghanistan this year to 20, making 2019 the deadliest year since Washington officially announced an end to operations in 2014.

Sgt. 1st Class Michael James Goble, 33, died after sustaining injuries in an explosion in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz. He was on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan when he was killed.

Since the US invaded Afghanistan, more than 2,400 American forces have been killed there in the alleged fight against Taliban terrorists.

This is while the US peace negotiations with the Taliban, which resumed in Qatar on December 7, have so far failed to bear any tangible results.
