Kashmir crisis is raging on as India and Pakistan adopt new mutual countermeasures against each other over the recent clampdown in the disputed region.

RNA - In the latest development, Pakistan’s ambassador to the US has raised the possibility of redeploying troops from the Afghanistan border to the Kashmir frontier.

Pakistan has already cut its diplomatic ties with India over the recent developments in Kashmir. This comes as the curfew in Kashmir is nearing its second week. People were even not allowed to gather in mosques to say their annual festival prayer known as Eid al-Adha.

All communication links from roads to the internet and phone services remain suspended. Meanwhile, residents are running out of their stocks of essential edible and medicines and any one braving to come out on the road is being shot down by Indian security forces. As many as 900,000 military and paramilitary troops have been deployed to force 14 million Kashmiri population to stay in door.

The measures have sparked harsh criticisms from neighboring Pakistan. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned that the curfew and crackdown in the disputed region are unfolding exactly as per supremacist philosophy of Indian ruling party’s terrorist wing better known as RSS.

According to Press TV, India and Pakistan have fought three wars over Kashmir, most recently clashing in a series of aerial attacks over the territory in February.

Under Article 370 of the Indian constitution, the state of Jammu and Kashmir had special dispensation to make its own laws. However, the Indian government revoked the Article 370 sparking unrest in the region.

The disputed Jammu and Kashmir is divided between Pakistan, India and China. Beijing is backing Islamabad’s stance to resolve the dispute through numerous UN Security Council resolutions which calls for plebiscite to let people decide on whether they want to stay with India or join Pakistan.
