A seminary teacher announced:
Hujjat al-islam Husseini Qomi, elaborating on different sorts of charity, as mentioned by the narratives, said, “according to some people, almsgiving is solely putting money into charity boxes”.

RNA - Hujjat al-Islam Hesseini Qomi, in the session held in the Qrand Mosqe of Qom on the ninth of Ramadan, pointing to the verse no. 273 of Baqara Surah, said, “Through this verse, God maintains that the poor who live with a good repute, and don’t beg others for help, should be helped.”

Pointing to different types of almsgiving, he said, “Almsgiving doesn’t only apply to putting money into charity boxes. There are 11 types of charity, including providing others with a solution, guiding people, visiting the sick, enjoining good and forbidding wrong, responding to the greeting of others, taking steps for holding the prayer, helping the weak, teaching (sciences to) others, serving others verbally or maintaining the reputation of others, defending other people and good behaviour.”

Hujjat al-islam Husseini Qomi said, “According to Imam Moosa Kazim (AS), even the poor should pay alms, and Imam Ali (AS) also said, deal with God through paying alms while you are experiencing poverty.”

He finally added, “according to some different narratives, if people can’t pay alms, they can participate in the charitable affairs like helping through non-monetary means.”
