Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined that his country will never accept the 12 conditions set by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last May for Tehran to follow in order to start a new round of talks with Washington, describing it as an insult to the Iranian nation.

RNA - "The US 12-paragraph prerequisites ignore the honor of the Iranian nation and violate their rights and therefore, we should stand against these measures and be patient," Larijani said, addressing a forum in the Northeastern province of Khorassan Razavi on Thursday.

He said Iran's compliance with the US demands would end up even in more arrogant demands by the US, and reminded Washington's approach and humiliation of Saudi Arabia and its plundering of the Arab country's wealth.

On May 21, 2018, Pompeo set 12 conditions for Iran to follow in order for the United States to agree to a new nuclear deal with Tehran after Washington's withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif responded Pompeo by saying that "how can the US government expect to be viewed or treated as a reliable party to another round of serious negotiations following its unilateral and unwarranted withdrawal from an agreement which was the result of hundreds of hours of arduous bilateral and multilateral negotiations, in which the highest ranking US foreign affairs official participated, and which was submitted to the Security Council by the US and adopted unanimously as an international commitment under Article 25 of the Charter?".

According to Fars News Agancy, Washington has been under fire by the entire international community, including its own allies, for leaving the 2015 Iran deal and slapping Tehran with sanctions again.

After withdrawing from the JCPOA, the US reinstated the anti-Iran sanctions that had been lifted under the accord.

It has also been attempting to dissuade other signatories to the JCPOA from living up to the accord, threatening “secondary sanctions” against the firms that refuse to abide by Washington’s restrictive measures against Iran

The administration of President Donald Trump said in a statement on April 22 that, in a bid to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero, that buyers of Iranian oil must stop purchases by May 1 or face sanctions, sending oil prices to their highest levels since last November.
