Ovain Ali:
Rasa – According to Ovain Ali, a complete shutdown has been observed in Kashmir to mark ‎the martyrdom anniversary of a Kashmiri separatist leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru.‎

Rasa – In an exclusive conversation with Rasa News Agency, Ovain Ali, a revolutionary ‎student in Indian-occupied Kashmir, said, “In Indian-occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is ‎being observed today, to mark the sixth martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri leader, ‎Muhammad Afzal Guru.”‎

A call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising ‎Sayyed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farouq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.‎

The leadership has also called for shutdown in the territory and a march towards Lal Chowk ‎in Srinagar to press the demand for return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru ‎and renowned Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqboul Butt, from New Delhi’s Tihar ‎Jail to occupied Kashmir for a decent burial.‎

India had hung Muhammad Afzal Guru in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013 and ‎Muhammad Maqboyl Butt in the same jail on February 11, 1984, for their role in the Kashmir ‎freedom movement. Their bodies were buried in the premises of the jail.‎

The authorities have put Hurriyat leaders under house arrest in Srinagar.‎
