RNA - "Iran is capable of confronting the US threats as the country is quite serious on defending its national security," Masjedi said.

He reiterated that Iran does not threaten any country, but if the Americans start doing so, they will be responsible for consequences of the threats.

Iran’s envoy also pointed out that Tehran is not seeking enmity and hostility with any country including the US, he said.

Masjedi pointed to the nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) and the US threats against it, and said the international pact is the outcome of marathon negotiations involving Iran and six major world powers.

In relevant remarks on Thursday, Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee blasted the US president for his anti-rhetoric, and said Donald Trump should remember Washington's previous mistakes in the region, specially its approach towards Iran.

"Have you forgotten what happened to the US sailors encroaching on Iranian territory in Farsi Island last year? Your dreams will not come true," Rezayee wrote on his Twitter account.

He also said that Trump needs to confront the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) to see how millions of people join it.
