RNA - "We don’t have yet a precise and clear view of Saudi Arabia, and the voices heard from Riyadh are different and they sometimes speak about Iran and then deny it. Saudi Arabia should definitely take positive steps, specially about Yemen and it should leave Yemen to its people," Qassemi told reporters in Tehran on Monday.
Elsewhere, he blasted the UAE and Bahraini officials' anti-Iran remarks at the recent UN General Assembly meeting in New York, and said, "Those who speak of Iran's interference are busy with trading terrorism and extremism in the region along with their partners and big brother and their remarks are aimed at spreading Iranophobia which is nothing new and continues for different reasons."
Iran has always underlined that it is in favor of good relations with its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia.
"Although some differences exist between the two countries, our policy has always been based on the establishment of good relations with neighbors but this policy also depends on mutual respect," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in August.
Also in the same month, Qassemi blasted Saudi Arabia for its hostile measures against Tehran, and voiced regret that Riyadh is making strategic mistakes in its policies on Iran and Yemen.
"Saudi Arabia is making strategic mistakes both about the region and about Yemen and Iran," Qassemi said.
Stressing that Iran doesn’t want tension and is ready for talks despite the Saudi officials' antagonistic remarks, he, meantime, said, "Talks and understanding doesn’t mean supporting the governments and countries' behavior."
