RNA – Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani expressed concern over the worsening situation facing Shaykh Ibrahim Zakzaky and called for the freedom-loving people and Muslims of the world to give their support to the leader of the Shi’ahs of Nigeria.
Shaykh Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), has been in detention since December 2015 after his residence in the city of Zaria was raided by Nigerian forces, during which he was beaten and lost his left eye.
His wife also sustained serious wounds while more than 300 of his followers and three of his sons were killed in the violence.
Last week, members of the IMN said that the cleric had been poisoned in prison and required urgent medical care abroad.
The text of the revered source of emulation is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
It is with complete sorrow that we hear of the unfortunate news about the situation of the warrior scholar, His Eminence Shaykh Zakzaky.
The crimes that are occurring in Nigeria today, wherein a significant number of people are suffering from tribulation and torture, are a matter of grave concern.
This warrior scholar has been deprived of his basic rights and has been sentenced on false charges and has been subject to torture and imprisonment for a long time.
The false claimants of human rights have closed their eyes to these crimes and have chosen deadly silence and have offered eternal hatred and disgrace. International organizations have lost their identity by remaining silent in the face of this criminal act and have practically become useless organizations.
It is imperative for all lovers of freedom and all Muslims to declare their support for these freedom-seeking people, especially Shaykh Zakzaky, and condemn this crime.
The respected officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran will also continue their efforts to save these oppressed people.
