The representative of Grand Ayatollah Sistani warned against the increase of drug consumption in Iraq and stated, “Officials should find an effective remedy for this social malady.” According to the correspondent of Rasa News Agency in the holy city of Najaf, Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi Karbalaei, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Sistani and the custodian of Imam Hussain (AS) holy shrine, through the sermons of this week Friday prayer, warned against the increase of drug consumption in Iraq and said, “The related organization and officials should deal with this malady and find good remedies for this social malady.”
He added, “Some new preventive laws ought to be passed on the distribution of drugs in Iraq. If problems such as drug consumption become prevalent among the youth, they will face multiple intellectual, sensual, physical and health problems in the future.”
Finally, Hujjat al-Islam Abd al-Mahdi maintained, “Families, schools, universities and media should do their best in resolving this social problem. Islam has provided solutions for every problem, therefore, the moral and training issues and social values should be attended to critically and properly.
