A commentator says the “racist” US administration uses “cruel” and “horrifying” discriminatory tactics against the migrants arriving on American soil in attempt to discourage others from entering the country.

RNA - The US administration’s detention and mistreatment of the migrants arriving in the US is back under the spotlight amid reports of six migrant child deaths in federal custody since last September.

US President Donald Trump has made toughening immigration policies a central tenet of his presidency and has vowed to build a wall along the US-Mexico border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

In an interview with Press TV on Monday, Edward Corrigan, said the Trump administration is a “racist government,” which discriminates against all migrants and people of color, including Latinos, Muslims and even the African Americans.

Trump’s base has “a lot of racist sentiments against foreigners” and his “administration wants to discourage people from coming to the United States.”

To achieve that end, he added, the US administration uses “cruel” and “horrifying” methods meant to “make things as difficult as possible” for the migrants, including caging migrant children and separating refugee families.

He said formal investigations should be launched into such deaths in US custody to bring those responsible to justice and avoid more such incidents, which have tarnished America’s image globally.
