Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, on the sidelines of planting two saplings on Wednesday on the Iranian National Arbor Day to observe the ritual, said that protecting plants is an important task which should turn into a dominant popular culture.

RNA - Ayatollah Khamenei said all should try to protect the forests and meadows at the same time that the supervisory bodies like the judiciary tries to do their best to prevent destruction of forests.'

The Leader further noted that protecting plants and green life should be promoted among people to the point that it really deserves.

According to Fars News Agancy, Ayatollah Khamenei planted two saplings to observe the day when people all across the country come out to plant trees.

The Leader added that the day indeed indicates the good tidings for the arrival of spring and the importance of protecting plants.

Referring to the damages inflicted to the country because of neglecting forests, meadows and green plants, for instance by construction, he said that responsible organizations should strongly confront such moves and try to stop them.

On the Iranian National Arbor Day, individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees and many countries mark the occasion.
