Rasa – Referring to the scholarly and revolutionary services of Ayatollah Momen, Ayatollah Khatami told Rasa News Agency, “Ayatollah Momen remained a revolutionary until the end of life and stood along Ayatollah Khamenei and was a strong supporter of Wilayat al-Faqih.” RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Board of Directors of the Assembly of Experts, commemorated the death of Ayatollah Mohammad Momen, saying, “Ayatollah Momen was a prominent, precise and truly absolute mujtahid.”
The member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom added that one of the arenas in which absolute ijtihad can be recognized is in the arena of the deduction of new and innovative issues in regard to which Ayatollah Momen compiled books. His book ‘Kalimat Sadidah fi Masa’il Jadidah’ [Upright Words in New Matters] was a plan of some of the new issues in jurisprudence.”
Referring to the works and services of the late Ayatollah Momen, he said, “He wrote a two-volume book called ‘Tasdid al-Usul’ [Strengthening the Principles of Jurisprudence] which wisely discusses a course of principles.”
Ayatollah Khatami further added, “His commentary of the of the punishments and decrees of [Imam Khomeyni’s] ‘Tahrir al-Wasilah’ [Exegesis of the Means of Salvation] is among the other of the works of Ayatollah Momen and along with Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli, he wrote an explanation of ‘Salah’ [Prayer] by the late Ayatollah Mohammad Mohaghegh-Damad. The most authoritative book of Ayatollah Momen was written on Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent], which was published in three volumes. In Lebanon, it’s used by Hezbollah as a textbook. Therefore, Ayatollah Momen was academically valuable personality.”
He expressed that the revolutionary actions and efforts of Ayatollah Momen befits him with the title of a striving jurisprudent and said, “Before the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Momen stood alongside Imam Khomeyni in the divine struggles and by exiling him to the town of Shahdad, Kerman province because of his actions, the tyrant [Mohammad-Reza Pahlavi] demonstrated his spite toward this noble jurisprudent.”
Ayatollah Khatami said, “The most important feature is that Ayatollah Momen remained revolutionary until the end of his life and accompanied the Supreme Leader and was a strong supporter of the Wilayat al-Faqih. May the salutations of God be upon him who led a happy life and went on the ‘straight path’ to meet God Almighty.”
