Rasa - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif lashed out at the western states for following Israeli Prime Minister's suit in raising baseless allegations against Iran's missile program.

RNA - "First, Netanyahu stands next to a nuclear bomb plant and threatens Iran with annihilation. Now, he openly boasts about his 'offensive' missiles that can reach anywhere," Zarif wrote on his twitter page.

He underlined the deterrent and defensive nature of Iran's missiles, and said unfortunately, the "West parrots his concerns" about the Iranian missiles.

His remarks came after Netanyahu said that the regime was developing “offensive missiles” cable of hitting anywhere across the region, alluding to Iran.

He also claimed that Israeli agents continue to operate inside Iran as part of Israel’s efforts to thwart what he called as the nuclear ambitions of the Islamic republic.

The Iranian officials have in different occasions stressed the defensive nature of the country's missile program, dismissing the western states' allegations.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the US was using Iran's missile program as a pretext to pressure and weaken Tehran as Washington had been disappointed at the military option against Iran.

"Today, the enemies have grown disappointed at military threats and their pressures on Iran's missiles are because of their despair. But we do know very well that we can never neglect the defense power even for one moment," General Hatami said, addressing a forum in Tehran.

He added that the US and its allies wanted to use the terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria to hit a blow to the Islamic Revolution but Iran's supports for the legal governments in those countries foiled enemies' plots and created the resistance pivot.
