RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Ali-Reza Arafi stated that due to the blessings of the Islamic system of government, Iran’s military bases are safe.
The head of al-Mustafa International University stressed that the Islamic Republic believes and maintains that the region and the world must be cleared from weapons of mass destruction, especially nuclear and chemical weapons.
“Iran has the abilities to develop such a program but because Islamic law forbids weapons of mass destruction, Iran does not seek them,” he added.
Ayatollah Arafi explained: “Why do fragile arms races exist in the world when there are a billion people suffering from malnutrition and poverty? The United States and several Western countries have been spending huge sums of money to develop weapons of mass destruction!”
The renowned scholar stressed that the arms race must be eliminated, both in Islamic countries and on the global level, adding that all stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction must be destroyed. “This general demand of humanity is the basis and logic of the Islamic system,” he added.
Qom’s Friday prayer leader referred to attempts by Western countries to develop nuclear and chemical weapons and their oppression against the world’s independent countries, saying “The imperialists of the world must know that the demand of the people and the oppressed of the world and all of the Islamic ummah is that they stop their unwarranted competition, injustice and bullying.”
He emphasized the necessity of developing the country’s defense and missile industries, saying: “This logic does not say that they say that Iran must desist from developing defensive power and a missile program.”
Ayatollah Arafi added that the Zionists and Saudi Arabia and their puppets frequently plot and have created insecurity by spreading sedition and the Takfiri ideology of terrorism in this region, saying: “Just as Iran’s Supreme Leader has stated, Iran’s position is one of power, security and an increase of its missile defense infrastructure and it will not compromise on this position.”
In other remarks, Ayatollah Arafi stated that the OIC’s recent targeting of Hezbollah was unfortunate, saying that if the Islamic Resistances’ and Iran’s power did not exist, many of Muslim capitals would be under the control of Takfiri groups.
